Sweet Thunder (GMMG) muffler pics inside, going on true duals

I just recieved these mufflers today. They came in about 3 business days from the day i ordered them. They are extremely high quality. The pictures just do not do them justice. I ordered the 2 1/2" x 18" mufflers. These will be going on my 2 1/2" true dual X-pipe setup with side exits. I have heard these mufflers are identical to GMMGs so i thought i would post some pics for everyone to see. I'll post the sound clip once i install my Jet hots and the exhaust which should be at the end of this week. Has anyone used these mufflers on true duals?

Let me know if you want any more pics. I'll take some pics of them isntalled and a few sound clips inside and outside of the car.

Sweet! I've been thinking about doing a setup like that. I have GMMG behind a y-pipe and I need more flow. Post sound clips when you're done!

a couple years ago, i had the same setup but with 3" and dumping at the axle........let me tell you.....it was LOUD...sounded like a nascar or something....way too loud for daily driving and caused a lot of resonance inside the car. (still got compliments on the sound from people, but they thought i had a full on race car when it was really just a bolton car!)
hopefully it wont be as bad for you because youll have side exit.

Re: Sweet Thunder (GMMG) muffler pics inside, going on true duals

I was afraid of resonance and it being extremely loud. I've been driving around with my stock exhaust cut off before the cat through for 6 months so hopefully I've gotten used to it. I decided side exits would work the best next to rear exits.

These mufflers are 3" in diameter at the casing. That is extremely thin so i am trying to decide on which way to do the mufflers. Should i do them right off of the headers and before the X pipe, or should i do them right after the X-pipe but right before the side exits?

Did you car sound good though? Lol. I mean i was kind of hoping to get it to still sound like GMMG exhaust, but meaner and louder.

Here are pics of my two ideas. (My carpet used to be elextric blue now its almost brown from all of the grease and oil i have tracked in here from car parts) Which would flow better and which would sound better?

which would cause more resonance , o wpuld think teh chamber being right under teh car more towards the driver it would caue more resonance , the furthur u put them back like in the first pic would cause less resonance??

i have the GMMG and ilove it , im not a 100% but true duals and the chambers should ound amazing, kinda like the old 60s style corvettes with the chambers set on the sides of the car, they sounded awesome

Yeah I'm hoping they sound awsome. I can't say i have ever heard a 60s corvette, but i was going for unique and i loved the sound of GMMG. I was thinking that the mufflers closer to the headers would cause more resonances too, and kind of defeat the purpose of the X pipe. The exhaust would flow smoother from the X pipe, then hit the mufflers to quiet it down. I think i am going to go with the 1st setup.

it pops a lot but he said that is because of how he reved it and it does't do that all the time.

Thanks guys. Don't do side pipes if you have any potholes anywhere. I bottomed out accelerating across an intersection. I used that extra body crossmember as sort of a skid plate for my exhaust. That's really all that hits though.

I got my car tuned and new o2 sensors and it rarely pops at all.
