sweet smell @ startup

There is usually a sweet smell at startup. I am guessing this is coolant. Help please! I hate coolant and/or heating problems.

If its coming through the vents inside the car it's probably the heater core....

I have a convertible, as you do, and the top is usually down so I don't know if it is coming from the interior. Guess I will put the top up and see if I get the same smell.
Is there a way to test the heater core without pulling it out?

Does replacing the heater core on a 4th Gen suck as bad as a 3rd, or is it worse?

There probably is some way to test it but I have no idea what it is. There's probaby a way to check the pressure in the cooling system at any given temp to see if your loosing pressure somewhere. Other than that, the last time I did a heater core was in the 'ole 79 buick regal and I knew it was bad because I had acouple gallons of coolant on the floorboards......

The last heater core I replaced was on my 1993 S10. That friggin sucked. Remove the stereo, loosen and pry a portion of the dash, can't see nothing, etc.
