This is the surge that never ends!
I have a had a high idle and surging idle for months now which has survived all my part-replacing binges. I have a new EGR VALVE, PLUGS and WIRES, TPS, IAC VALVE, MAP SENSOR. I have checked numerous times for vacumm leaks and loose connections. There doesnt seem to be any power loss as I ran a 13.2 last week at the track but its is a very annoying problem. I usually put the car in neutral at red lights and such. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
How about changing your fuel filter? That seemed to help my idle problems a lot. Initially, it seemed to get rid of my surging completely, but a week later it showed up but a lot less intense. I still have minor surging once in awhile but not as bad.
My car is surging and sometimes dying at stoplights. My idle is fine though. My car is throwing a code. It is surging in middle rpms too. I've replaced so much $hit. Plugs/wires/opti/fuel filter/ fuel pump. I'm gonna buy a scanner, cuz i dont know anyone who has one, and the autozone crap wont work. So, I am gonna drive it in limp mode till my scanner comes in so I can have some sort of damn idea whats wrong. ugh!!!
Ok..I had this type of problem like I'd be at a stoplight and my car's rpm would be high and at times surge up maybe 100 rpm causing me to hit the brake harder to stop the car. I did 2 things that brought the idle back down. First was the throttle cable wasn't properly wrapped around the TB. The second was the vacuum line for the EEC to the EEC purge valve was disconnected. I think it was the throttle cable though it was actually applying some gas at idle forcing it to run a higher rpm. Hope I helped good luck man.
Thanks for the replies. I have also replaced my o2's and i have fooled with the throttle cable a bit because I took my nitrous plate off. I guess my next plan of action is to try and adjust the cable and go get a fuel filter. I dont think the filter is bad but i guess it wouldnt hurt to change it.
