Surely my water pump is working........

..........I mean after topping the radiator off I turn the key to run, and the temp shows 200* I start the car, and the temp quickly comes down to 180*. I figure the gauge in the dash is looking at the sensor in the head right?? so if that gauge is going up and down, then my pump is running, and the car is doing its thing controling temp, right?? Without the AC running, the temp will go up to 210*, turn the AC on, and it comes down to 180*, I go to bleed the air, and air comes out for a couple of minutes, my overflow bottle overflows, I open the radiator, and it is bone dry.

did this three times, same thing everytime.

try filling it and then leave the cap off while you get it up to temp. Continue filling it till you see the t-stat open and circulate. When you are sure it is close to full then put the cap on and bleed the air.

Damn radiator cap. I kept putting water in, and water in, and water in, bleed for 2 or 3 minutes, radiator is bone dry...........
The overflow tank kept overflowing, but the water would never go back into the radiator.
