supporting mods for LE2 package??

as of now i have mods in sig but i am going to get the LE2 package. what other things will i need to get this running good? i was thinking of getting of putting new .30 over forged rods/pistons and reuse the crank. also some guy who owns a performance shop and dyno says not to expect anything over 350hp with a 383 stroker and the LE2 package yes i know he's an idiot, but this guy usually dynos mustangs and LS1's and aside from my car he's only dynoed another poorly built 383 stroker that dynoed 296hp. i guess i'll have to shut this guy up, but dont get me wrong he has/bulit a 9 second mustang. any other things i would need to get this project going? thanks in advance???

Re: supporting mods for LE2 package??

lloyd usually tells you what kind of supporting mods are needed to make his power estimates. I am going with an LE3 package and I got:
comp R lifters
comp 1.6 NSA 7/16 roller rockers
GM guideplates
7/16 studs
probably 42lb injectors and 58mm throttle body
LT4 extreme duty timing chain
some others im forgetting

you cant go wrong with the package

My LE2 383 made 401.x sae RWHP on the first pull with a mail order tune. There were also a few issues that I have worked out over the winter, and I will go back in the spring and hopefully put down 420+. For all mods, click the link in my sig.

tqdWS6, how much did you spend on the shortblock, and what was the total cost of the setup? i was thinking of just reusing the crank and just buy the pistons/rods. only other things i can think of that i would need is fuel pump, #30 injectors, and what Zigroid listed. im getting like $2k in a few weeks, my tax return, and my bro owes me $1500 cuz i helped buy his z28. would say i have about $3000 to spend, is this enough or should i save more?

Re: supporting mods for LE2 package??

For pistons, rods, bearings, rings, crank, splayed caps, ARP Studs, gaskets and fluids, I had about $2300-$2500 into it. Then it was about $1100 in machine work, which I got a pretty good deal on, for all that was done. Then you figure in the $1600 heads/cam, $150 for the intake porting, $480 for the monoblade, $175 for the ewp, $200 for the injectors, $260 for the rr's, $600 for the Delteq, $80 for the timing chain (cloyes true double roller), $200 for the lifters, $100 for the pushrods, $16 for the guideplates, $35 for the rocker arm studs, and I am sure that I am missing something. That brings the final total to somewhere around $7300-$7500 but I have likely forgot some things. I also had Jet Hot LT's and full exhaust, that were already on the car from the summer before.

You can run the LE2 package on a stock short block and you will be fine....

Other than the standard bolt ons, headers, CAI, TB, cat back etc.... The parts installed with the kit are key here.

comp R lifters
comp 1.6 NSA 7/16 roller rockers
GM guideplates
7/16 studs
Comp 5/16 Hi Tech Pushrods
Impalla Head Gaskets
GM Xtreme Duty TC or Double Roller if you run a Electric Water Pump

Does that mean you can just strap the the LE2 heads and cam straight on a stock LT1 and be fine? (Obviously you'll need a few supporting mods)

Re: supporting mods for LE2 package??

tqdWS6, i guess all the little things add up quick huh? but still i think that's not that much considering it's all forged and virtually indestructable.

did a little reading up on how strong the LT1 shortblock is and from what i understand is that it can really hold a good amount of power. i'll prolly get another set of heads and send em to Lloyd and hopefully be sone before spring break so i can repaint it and get down to south padre island for my birthday. i wanted to know what are my choices on timing chains since my car is a '93.

YEP

street demon2k3,

A 93 Timing chain is the same as the rest of the LT1's if you keep the water pump stock use a Extreme Duty TC, if not use a double roller and a electric water pump. BTW I already posted that.
