Supercharging the LT-1

I have a 94 Z-28 that I rebuilt engine and trans.Engine line bored and planed. Bored .030 over with hypereutectic pistons, Chevy Hot Cam, roller rockers and lifters.Heads and valves machined and beehive springs added. Trans rebuilt with Corvette kit. Runs great but still has stock injectors and intake. I would like to make some fuel/air mods- supercharger? Suggestions?

Re: Supercharging the LT-1

Were the heads ported, or just rebuilt? What is the estimated HP? The LT4 (???) HOT cam is nice, but it's not very aggressive. Good for relatively stock heads.

What HP level are you looking at? You can make up to 500 HP (and maybe a little bit more) at the flywheel with well ported stock heads and an aggressive cam. Don't need a supercharger or turbo setup until you go beyond that level. You can make as more than 1,000 HP with a supercharger, but the engine modifications to support that level are extensive and extremely expensive. For example, the hypereutectic pistons are marginal above 500 HP. You're getting into forged pistons above that, forged crank, upgraded connecting rods.

Starting with ported stock heads and a well matched camshaft examples are here - note, they are quoting rear wheel HP, which be be 12-15% less than flywheel HP with a manual trans, and 15-18% less through an auto trans. More HP means more fuel, more exhaust, Iin up de, and suspension modifications to put the power to the pavement.
