Supercharged 355 or NA 383?

I'm planning my LT1 T56 swap into my '88 Trans Am. I can't decide on to supercharge a 355 LT1 or build a NA 383. This will be my daily driver, so MPG and drivability is a concern. I'm looking for around 400-450 HP. If you've got either of these, please post your combo and your opininos on it.

The 383 would probably last longer and be more reliable...

But the 355 would be loads of fun...

Supercharged applications can bring on all new problems, but could be worth it if you're ready to deal with it. I would get a supercharger.

For a daily driver the NA 383 is your best bet.....heck, do forged internals and you can always add some spray later.

Another vote for an N/A 383...Check out my sig...10 years on the motor and the damn thing still runs 11s. Just oil changes and a few sets of plugs and wires...Just don't skimp on the parts when you decide on a combo and you'll be happy...

Is this reasonable?

Or should I stick to someplaces that specialize in LT1 stuff?

I say go all motor 355 and get GOOD heads/cam. I recommend Lloyd Elliot's heads/cam packages. The extra cubes won't give you much gain unless you run aftermarket heads(which cost a lot of money)

for reliability, N/A 383, fun factor, axe the 355 and slap the supercharger on the 383

i.e. nitrous isnt cheating, its a mod just like anything else

Go N/A and save yourself the trouble of tuning a boosted setup...
