I just went and got one, it looks really nice and it has brass contacts inside. You can get the distributor from autozone for $130 and its lifetime. So for $190 you can have a brand new opti.

Thats some good info right there! anyone ever use an accel cap and rotor? i have been told to stay away from their injectors...

 

I bought a cap and rotor on ebay for $29. Works excellent!

 

i have read a lot about the opti's taking dumps.
not sure how their cap/rotors are.

thepartsladi has gm optis for 295+shipping as of today.
i will just be ordering one of those in the next week or so.

Well this cap has brass pins on both ends. The factory one only has brass on the inside terminals not the ones for the wires.

 

Yep, their opti's suck! I had one on my impala and from the time I installed it and crank it up, it had a miss. The cap and rotor that I bought new on ebay for $29 had brass contacts and was really nice. The person selling them had a slew of them. I also purchased an opti from autozone and it worked fine.

 

I would not give a nickle for any cap other than GM. I had a parts store cap and an Accell cap and sparks were shooting out of the cap and into the water pump. I also saw sparks jumping from the inner part of the balancer to the out part of the balancer. Figure that one out.

 

anything but ac delco or delphi is crap.
