Summit Elect. Water Pump vs Meziere

I was reading the description in Summit and deciding which pump to go with on my 355

The Summit Pump has:
- 10,000 hour use seal expectancy
- 30 GPM
- 179$

Mezier:
- 2,000 hour use seal expectancy
- 43 GPM
- 200$

30$ difference. Which is more important for the price? Seal expectancy or GPM?

I have the Meziere pump, and it works great so far! Even with a 2,000 hour seal life expectancy that translates to about 3-5 years of use before replacement is needed depending on driving conditions. I am assuming that your car is a daily driver, and if that is the case I would prefer GPM to life expectancy. The Meziere already flows less than the stock mechanical pump, and I would imagine things could heat up in a hurry with the Summit pump. Either way you go, there is always that chance that the pump will suddenly fail on you, so keep that in mind.

Anyone else wan to chime in?

It's going to be a daily driver. Your right though, GPM is important in these hot and humid carolina summers.

I also got the radiator checked/cleaned while the motor was out so everything should flow smoothly.

Umm, ok. Somebody care to explain this?

*The numbers listed for the Meziere vary depending on which parts vendor you refer to. Some websites state that the standard Meziere flows 42-GPM and the HD version flows 50-GPM --- then there are others that claim 35-GPM and 43-GPM, respectively.

*My May-June Summit magazine claims 37-GPM on the SUM-314351 pump. HOWEVER, if you put that number into their website, it is listed as 30-GPM.

Based on that information, I would have to conclude that there is NO WAY of telling which pump outflows the other -- at least not from looking at the company propaganda. Also, dont forget the CSI version, which I'm sure will further clutter and confuse the situation.

I personally have a Meziere standard-duty sitting out in the garage. Go figure...

I noticed that as well. When I first saw it, it just a few GPM under the Meziere, then when i brought it up on the website, it was 30 compared to 43.
