success story finally (hard start)

Talking success story finally (hard start)

SO...
I have been poking around in here for months posting and lurking trying to figure out my hard start problem. Problem is, it starts fine all day long if the outside temp is above 45* or so. If its colder than that, I have to try starting until the batt finally dies from exhaustion, then I have to drive the mustang to work. So for months I have replaced things. (also there was no trouble codes.) Fuel pump, fpr, tune up stuff and lots of stuff Ive forgotten with no help at all.
Finally on a suggestion from a friend I replaced the coolant temp sensor for the PCM, and vroom vroom ready to go now.
Funny stuff. It starts just fine in the morning now. I would have never guessed that was coming.

Its good to here you got the car running good again. Don't you hate when something is wrong with the car and you can't figure it out. So you start replacing a bunch of stuff and when your all done you replace something really cheap and simple and it fixes your problem. Damn that kind of stuff pisses me off.

Yep a couple hundred in attempts, and I was ready to quit on it, then...the temp sensor was just $8 and all is well. Still apprehensive though...just seemed too easy.

A scan tool would probably have been helpful for diagnosis.

not this time...I used the auto xray, and a few others, and they gave no codes.

i have a hard starting problem too. but its all the time. but my low coolent light was on so ill try that. i have already replaced my FPR and have found that my fule system can't hold pressure for anythign . getting my scanner next week though

Codes are not the only thing you should look for. Monitoring what the pcm is seeing is part of diagnosing.
