ohh yeah, the fly wheel will be connected to the block....just not to the converter.

Don't get your shirtsleeve caught in the flywheel and don't rev it too quickly.

Also, bolt the flywheel to the crank, not the block.

Just make sure your motor mounts are on good and tight.

I personaly would not do it just because of the back and forth motion when starting. But I suppose if you just feel that you have too I wouldnt think it'd hurt anything. I just wouldnt do it for piece of mind.
