Stupid drivers side header!

Allright, I have my car high enough in the air, I have my alt, starter, steering, old manifolds, oil filter removed. The drivers side is suppose to be the easiet right? It isn't going in. I have only read about people jacking the motor mount up on the passager side (which I havn't even started yet). Can I jack up that side of the engine too to try and get it in?

EDIT: I have jet hot long tubes.

You can jack up the motor, but be careful to not tear the other engine mount or the tranny mount.

Are you installing the Jet hots by yourself or with a friend. Someone to help you makes it a lot easier. I installed my drivers side header with no problems. Jack the car as far in the air as possible. The header is easiest to install from the bottom. I believe you tilt the collector towards the passenger side of the car. Your going to have to play around with the angles. Plan on at least 8-10 hrs for the install.

What are you doing about a y-pipe?

Have you taken the slip fit out? try pulling the steering shaft off as well.. you'll realize that the driver's side is cake compared to what your going to go through for the passenger side..

I tried from the bottom but gave up quick because it looked imposible. I'll give it another go. Any tips on jacking up the motor.
The steering linkage is out as well as is the slip fit.

My driver side went in very nicely..

Just play around with it for a while. You'll get it eventually. It's tricky with the K-Member sticking out. If I remember correctly.. I tilted the collector so the opening was at about a 45 degree angle to the ground, and then just wiggle it around.

My passenger side was harder.. but only because I had to jack up the motor. And even that wasn't very hard. It's just one bolt and one nut... A lot of people stress over that for some reason

You might want to delete this thread before the "LT1 Tech" modrator sees this.... a definite violation of board rules.

Do not over-ride the language filter.

My driver's side was the hardest. I had to grind down the K member. Hope that helps.

Actually, it is against the rules. Please don't override the language filter.

Do you realize that most of the moderators are the same guys that come here mainly to help people.... I can tell you its really frustrating to sign on hoping to read some interesting posts and spend time helping people, but you can't because you have to start editing posts and moving things to the correct forum. It means that a few people who could have been helped got ignored, because the moderator was busy straightening things out....

Just my personal view.
