Ok guys my cars seems to be running great after putting in the xe 224/230 cam and roller rockers. I have been taking it easy on it for the last couple days and i decided to give it a good run today. AT about 5500 and above in first gear it popping and sound like it is hitting the rev limiter. once i shift to second it will pull past 6000 easy with no problems. what could it be.

BTW it is a 6 speed and the rev limiter is set at 6500 (i am shifting at 6000)

 

anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

I thought I had a problem with mine cutting out in first. Turns out it revs so fast now that the stock tach can't keep up. It was hitting the rev limiter before the tach got to 5,000. I tried revving it more slowly, and it acts just fine. If it's an auto, though, you might have programming issues in getting it to shift at the right time. Another reason why the 6 speed is fun.

Edit: I just saw that it's a 6-speed, so ignore the part about programming for shifts...

 

what is your rev limiter set at? I have mine set at 6500 and it starts cutting out between 5500 to 6000 rpm (probably right in the middle somwhere). I guess need to get a new tach or maybe just a shift light.
