When the exhaust lifter starts to go down, adjust the intake. when the intake bottoms and starts coming back up adjust the exhaust..... No matter what, you will have to readjust them while the motor is hot and running to get it right.....Been there done that..

Re: Stuck! Rocker arms

spinning the pushrod is almost guaranteed to make things too tight.

Zero lash is when the pushrod can't move up and down any more, then you go the fraction of an additional turn.

You didn't even tell us what rockers you are using, this is really easy with roller rockers as you can spin the polylock down with your fingers

No matter what? Ridiculous......if done correctly there is no need to do it hot with the engine running. The issue is simply finding zero lash and adding preload..people that have problems seem to have not found zero lash.

Don't bother adjusting hot. Go to shbox.com and look up how to adjust the rockers....there are several different methods. Don't spin the push rod, move it up and down to find zero lash....

ok so i went out there did 1st cylinder first did the up and down method was easy spun crank with a crowbar. better then hands i just hope i didnt make anything too tight if i did will it be hard to adjust with the intake back on ? 1st time doing this thanks for all the help guys. what i did was find zero lash then maybe about 1/2 to a full turn. its ok for the pushrod to be spinning still.

I disagree. The pushrod can spin with preload on the rocker....oil makes it possible.

You are fine. It even warns the pushrod may spin once the lifter relaxes after adjustment. Read carefully and follow the directions.

From front to back(or back to front), valves are E-I-I-E-E-I-I-E.

So you have an LT4?
Stock rockers are not roller on an LT1.

If it happens to be a stock, factory LT4, they use shouldered studs that you merely tighten down and you don't have to worry about setting lash. The OP does not give much info as to what he is working on.

ShowOff67, the instructions on my site are already in "plain old english".

My point was more that we can't help someone who doesn't even know what he has or what the parts are.

I will guess that when he said "stock roller" he meant the lifters.
