Stuck In River
Re: Stuck In River
I took the car to the shop in a tow trucked....
The body of water didnt look deep, unfortunately, i couldnt see how deep it was until i hit it with the car...i told my friends about it and they said that the intersection i went through has dips and when it rains as hard as yesterday, the dips can accumulate about a foot to a foot and a half of water.
I removed the mass airflow sensor and it was full of water and that little plastic stick that hooks to the elbow and runs down to the bottom near the floor was full of water...
So what am I looking at? A new engine? Rebuild?

Re: Stuck In River
well i will lay it out like this.. worse case scenario you bent your rods but maybee its just hydo locked still. change your oil take your plugs out.. NOW .. get that water out asap. a cylinder can acumulate surface rust before your very eyes within minutes. you might need a new maf and definatly make sure that water is all out of your engine.if it was mine i would take the intake off and make sure everthing was dry in the heads before i attempted starting it. however i guess you could pull all the plugs take the tb off clean all the water out of the manifold blow compressed air into the cylinders and a shot of wd40 try and get all the water out let it sit and then when all dry see if it still runs. you never know may not have done anything. theres realy only two options for you at this point.
just tear it apart and rebuild it.
or get the water out try to run it if not tear then it apart to rebuild.
if it does run dont be suprised if it burns oil and smokes.the water seeps between your rings and it doesnt make for a very freindly lubricant.

Just Picked Up The Car From The Shop. They Pulled The Plugs And Turned The Engine Over Manually And They Saw Shots Of Water Out Of All 8 Plugs. The Car Starts And Runs Now.
Thanks A Lot To Everyone For All Their Input! It Is Greatly Appreciated!
A Mistake And Lesson Learned!!

Re: Stuck In River
I am gonna change the oil saturday and put a new air filter.... it hurts my wallet because i had just changed the oil about 1 month ago with royal purple oil
Re: Stuck In River
i would change the oil a couple times at earlier intervals with cheaper oil too be on the safe side (maybe twice in a 1000 mile period) then go back to normal routine
good luck with it and glad too hear nothing major happened

WEll those regular oil changes will come every 3 weeks just to make sure i dont leave anything behind thats not supposed to be there.
I know how much everyone stressed at the beginning of the thread that i should pull a plug but it just looks to hard and my car was on the street and there was too much water flowing to risk lifting up the car with a jack. I was afraid of snaping a plug in the process so i left that till the end which was
not a very smart choice...but she is alive...the only difference now is the way it starts sounds like it makes more metal contact (might be the starter) and the air pump sounds a bit louder but it might just be the water (i think its the air pump)
ONCE AGAIN.... THANKS A LOT AND I GREATLY APPRECIATE EVERYONES HELP!!!
