Is a stroker what I want?
In the quest for more power I installed a set of pacesetter longtubes and ory pipe and a comp 224/230 cam with 1.6 rockers, but I don't really enjoy driving the car as much as when it was stock. I know it makes more power because it went 13.5 at 107 (I know I need tires best 60' 2.3
) but I feel like I lost a lot of torque. I can't cruise at 1700rpm anymore and just pass other cars without downshifting. Now I cruise at 2000-2200rpm and still don't feel like there is enough power to pass without downshifting. I really don't care how much horsepower I make and I only go to the track 3-4 times a year so I am not to concerned with et either. All I am looking for is a car that feels fast, I want to be pinned to the seat as soon as I go wot. The two cars I have felt this in were a 68 elcamino 396 and a 03 viper. My car is a 94z m6 with stock 3.42's. Do I just need a gear? Did I pick the wrong cam for my application? Do I need a stroker? Or will I just never get that feeling out of an lt1. Sorry for the long post.

Re: Is a stroker what I want?
You need more gear IMO. You didn't lose torque with that cam, might be a bit higher in the RPM band now, but it makes assloads more torque than stock... and the fast revving ramps of the XE series make it hit that much harder.
I ran a 224/230 in my A4 with 3.73's for years.. made my stock LT1 cam feel like a damn 6 cylinder.

Re: Is a stroker what I want?
I didn't really mean I lost peak torque, I feel like it doesn't have any power below about 2500rpm where it did with the stock cam. Thanks for the reply though. I was thinking I should at least try a gear first before I give up on the lt1. If a gear would give me the feeling I want would a 4.56 be too much or should I stick with 4.10's?
