Stripped transmission mount bolt hole.

What is the best way to repair a transmission mount bolt hole that is stripped? I figure I have two decent options. 1-Tap the hole to a bigger size bolt. Or, 2-Heli-coil the bolt holes. I figure tapping should be a bit easier. Any other ideas or reccomendations ?

are you talking about the actual tranny mount? or the mounting hole in the tranny?

QCKZ28: I am talking about the threaded holes in the tranny where the mount goes.

96bird: How would I stud a stripped bolt hole ?

I think tapping/helicoil are your only options. I'd tap it myself.

I pulled the tranny, it only takes an hour or two. Took it to the the machine shop and had both holes heli-coiled and studded.
