strange ticking / ping?????

OK I have a 383 LT1 that runs great most of the time. The other day I pulled out of the shop and let it warn up, hopped in and went for a drive. When I got back to the shop as it sat idling, I hear a tick/ping I give it some gas and it goes away, let is idle ,it's back. It only tick /pings Once per rotation of the motor and only at no throttle. I pulled the valve cover off on the side I can hear it coming from ,every thing is good no bent push rods, no broke springs, no unseated rocker arms, and all the lifters seem to have good pressure (IE you can not push down on any of them ). I would not think it could have any thing to do with the rotating assembly because it would only get more persistent as you gave it more gas and this goes away as you give more gas.

Any ideas??????
I am trying to get a sound clip of this so you hear it.

Did you run it with the valve cover off? This would tell if something is wrong if the noise got louder with the cover off.

No, because the way my LTCC is set up it mounts to the valve cover and grounds out through the cover also so when I take the cover off I will have to come up with another way to mount the coils. If it comes down to relocating them temporally I may have to figure out a way to do that.

I listened to it.I would take the belt off and run it.It sounds like the belt chirping .Turn all the pulleys too.

Nope definitely not the belt. I thought of that first. Pulled it no change. Last time I started it it was louder at first then got a bit quieter after running for a few seconds, then went away after giving it gas, then came back after letting off the gas. So to me it sounds like when the oil pressure is up no noise and when its down, hear comes the noise.

ya min is bad right nw bc I just changed the oil pump and just reused the header gaskets BC IM IN THE MIDDLE OF SWAPPING MOTORS WITH SOMEONE LOL. I didnt wanna waste 30 bucks on gaskets if i was trading motors right away.

I only ran it for about 20 minutes then she has been hibernating since lol.

Exhaust leaks deff make alot of sound tho lol.
