strange problem with stereo system

ive had the same setup for a while now... all of a sudden when im driving for a long time and my music is turned up pretty high the sound will turn off for about 20 seconds then resume, then 2 minutes later again the sound will turn off for about 20 seconds again and so on... seems to only happen when my volume is high and ive been driving a long time... its almost like when you hit a hard bump and it stops for a couple seconds - same thing... it doesnt matter if its the cd playing or radio playing... im pretty stumped here... anyone know whats goin on?

Not sure what is going on but I bet if you post this in the Car Audio section of this forum, Someone will tell you how to fix it.

Thx,

I have something similar going on. Some times my radio will go *click* and loose volume. Then after about 5 seconds it will go *click* again and the volume return to normal. It only happens once in a while. And it will do it if the volume is low or high. I just thought it was my cell phone interfering with my radio. I used to have a 91 RS that if I turned my cell phone off. It would turn off the radio.

Sorry not much help. But I can feel your pain.
If anyone knows how to fix this let me know too.

I have had this problem on a few of the cheaper amps i have had in the past. ( I'm not saying yours is cheap so don't freak im just stating my case.) the problem arises from heat as most amps heat up they have a thermal protection switch witch shuts them off for a while after they reach a cetain temp to allow them to cool. so if that i the problem there are a few things you can do first make sure they are wel ventilated. meaning dont cover them with sweaters or junk in the trunk. after then cpu fans can be used to push air across to cool them or try turning down the gains and using the volume on your stereo.
