Strange problem

So today I started hearing an odd noise when I would let completely off the accelorator. It sounded like the tire rubbing the well. If I engaged the clutch it would stop or if I barely pressed the accelerator. I thought it was just something wet because it's raining bad today. Well then when I would come to a complete stop the car would jerk like I slammed on the breaks. And it was making a clicking noise when I stop. Not repetitive, just 1 click. Other than that it was running and shifting fine.....

Well it got louder fast. I thought me breaks were locking up but just before I got home there was a loud pop under the car followed by loud clanking noise. as j rolled into a parking lot I could smell something burning. Smelled electrical.

I then tried to push the car and it wouldn't roll forward. I made sure it wasn't in gear. Even tried with the clutch completely pressed in. wouldn't roll. However it will roll backwards... I'm pretty sure it is stuck in 1st but if I start it and try to drive it just makes the loud rattling noise

A loud noise is pretty vague, pop is too. Could u tell @ all where these were coming from? How was the car shifting before, and during this? The car won't roll forward but will roll backwards? I would start by jacking up the rearend of the car, be sure to block the front tires when u do, and use jack stands!! Put the car in neutral and spin the back wheels, since u should have limited slip or as some call it a posi, both rear tires should spin the same direction, if one won't turn because of maybe a bearing failure, the other side should be able to be turned. I would try doing that first, of course if the car is stuck in gear, it shouldn't spin @ all, unless the clutch is engaged. When u got home did u feel the wheels out back to see if either side was hot? Failing bearings generate friction, which makes heat, and usually the side that goes or that is going will get hot and the wheel will get hot too. By no means is this a suggestion to take the car out and drive it, @ this point that's the worst thing u could try do imho. If it is a failure of a bearing, driving it can cause u to wind up in a losing race with a back wheel. Try turning things while it's on jack stands first. Then tell us what u find out

Well to be more specific on the rattling.... If I have the shifter in neutral position it sounds fine when it idles or if I gas it. If even attempt to touch any gear it rattles. Sounds like tin cans tied to the bottom of the car while driving. So what I got so far is that I can't put it in any gear but it won't roll forward... And no I had no problems with it shifting before that. Other than the occasional grind shifting to first if I was moving to fast. I haven't jacked the car up yet because the drive shaft is encased and I don't know what to look for. Just wondering if it's the tranny or maybe the throw-out barring. Idk. The rattling sound is under the car at the back. Sounds like under the back seats.

U say it rattles when u go to put it in any gear? But u can't put it into a gear, and it won't roll forward??? That's just odd to me, but I don't have lots of experience with the 6 speed gear box. In my experience a blown tranny would react differently. But I guess it depends on what could've broke. I have seen syncros go out and cause a similar problem but the car wasn't stuck in gear. But I'm not really thinking u r, if u were stuck in gear u shouldn't be able to roll forward or backwards. Have someone push in on the clutch and see what happens. When the car isn't running can u put it in a gear? Does it even feel like u have engagement to the linkage? There's so many things to ask, so little room. I still say jack up the rearend, but block the fronts once again, and support it with jack stands. The driveline is concealed? Well the rearend and the transmission linkage would be my first 2 checks, see if the wheels will spin. Of course with the car in neutral. Until u start the process of elimination u won't know what the problem is, or even where to start looking
