Strange but consistent hard start problem
I'm having a bit of an odd hard start problem. The engines basically takes a few extra turns to startup when it does do it. Here's a description of what happens consistantly in different startup scenarios.
1. Startup engine after its been sitting a long time (overnight). Engine starts perfectly.
2. Startup engine within 0-30 minutes after being driven. Engine starts perfectly. (gas station, go for a quick lunch, etc)
3. Startup engine after its been sitting a few hours. Engine always takes a few turns to start. (Ie go to work, head out for lunch around noon)
Anyone know what's going on? I had the fuel pump replaced three years ago, and theres new injectors and a new FPR too. Fuel filter was changed less than 5000 ago.
Any ideas on what would cause the above 3 problems to consistantly happen all the time?

Mine does that to. when sitting overnight, will fire right up. but if I shut it off mine will crank over 4-5 times before starting within a 20min. to a 2 hr. window, but after that it will crank right up. so alittle diff. mine didn't do it, until I got it tuned, atleast that is the time that it started doing it...
Stock injectors that were just professionally cleaned and flow tested. Almost every darn sensor/filter etc has been replaced on the car too!
It also did this with SVO 30# (and a tuned computer) before as well.

IF and it's a big if, the problem is as you say it is. The only think I can think of is there are bubbles forming in the fuel system that over time go away. Some might incorrectly refer to it as vapor lock. Not sure if that were the case, if it would show up with a pressure gage on the line. Try wrapping the fuel rails and the part of the supply line in the engine bay with a reflective insulation and see if that helps.
Or you could try leaving the hood up after it's parked to see if leaving cool air into the engine compartment helps
Hey it's free and it doesn't take any time, what would it hurt?

To answer your if... I can guarantee you that 100% of the time the engine has the hard starting problem as described per my 3 points in the first post
It will always catch after a few turns too. IE i never have to try and retry, i just hold the key and it'll catch after a couple of turns.
Anyhow, I'll try the hood thing if i get a chance (i park on a busy street).
My gut feeling was something electrical, the wires are only 3 yrs old (Accel's) and the car runs great otherwise

Mine did it when I had Accel 30# injectors. Exactly like you describe it. I changed to Racetronix 36# injectors, used the stock injector offset values and the problem disappeared. When my car refused to start I would just hold the key and crack the throttle open a little bit and then it would start right away. That led me to think one or more injectors were leaking. You can remove the fuel rails with the injectors, pressurize the system and check for leaks. Sorry not being able to help you with anything else.
