I will be gradually accelerating and the car pulls evenly until about 3k rpm, then it launches a head, it feels like I just gave it a lot of throttle...or I sprayed nitrous. The thing is it only does this about one out of ten times....any ideas?

 

Sounds like a fuel pressure issue down low......no vacuum

i say this cuz it sounds like its running lean until you get some more fuel into the chambers

 

maybe, I never notice any WOT issues.
