stock waterpump removal and install help 1997 Z-28
I had my thermostat fail on my car and decided to go ahead and replace waterpump because over the years it has always dripped a little out of the weep hole, yes it has went on for years, sometimes it was enough to hit garage floor, the car has 53,000 miles. I have everything else apart and then I relize to get to the back bolt on the right side another compent is attached to waterpump, Is it pretty much straight forward , I ran out of daylight, can somebody give me some pointers, describe what I'm getting into. I have unhooked coil wire. Also when I pull stock watepump off, anything I need to know about the shaft driving the pump? Any help would sure help. I have all of the parts ready to install.

its simple all ya do is unbolt it take the peice off the back for the shaft get the new gaskets put them on the back with some sealer and then line the gear up that drives it and it should just slide right in i did mine on my 97 WS6 in about 2-3 hours with the very few tools that i had laying around

your guide is insane you remove so much stuff that does not need to be removed the only thing i removed was the intake elbow and the water pump i didnt have to take anything else off and it was easy

Thanks for the motivation everyone, It was a snap and it runs better than ever. It will always be easier the second time, I love that car. I have less time to do this kind of stuff and over the years my back has went to hell, but it always gives me great satisfaction knowing that I never took a car to myself and didn't receive what I paid for and I always do a little extra in the process verses cutting corners.
