Stock Valve OK with 236/236 565/565 112 cam???

Hey Guys,

I have basically everything I need to do my heads and cam install. All I need is a timing chain and I COULD put it all on.

I have a set of good heads that I purchased from a friend (he gained 7 mph and .9 in the quarter with just these heads and 1.6 RRs on a stock engine) but they have stock valves.

I am running a custom cam 236/236 565/565 112 lsa.

Would I be ok to run that cam with the stock valves or should I wait and get bigger valves put in? I am running out of funds for mods for this year and I don't really have the $500 to get bigger valves put in...so it is either put it in this year the way it is or wait until this winter/next spring and get bigger valves put in.

I know I will probably be giving up a little power, but will it be a huge bottle neck?

Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Eric

Just go ahead and put on the heads. I really dont think bigger valves will gain you alot of horspepower. Now I am sure there will be a couple of ponies tied up in stock valves. But it really depends on how big the ports are and what the heads flow. I would definitly not wait for the cash to do it though. Go ahead and put them on and enjoy the car!
