Stock or Stall??

Question Stock or Stall??

almost complete with my rebuild and before i put my trans in i wanted to get your opinions on where or not i should use my stock converter that has low miles on it or buy a stall converter 2000rpm or somethin'

it will be a 383 but not to big of a cam, if i have a stock converter will my car stumble and hesitate when it is put into drive? The car will be a daily driver in the summer and only go to the track 2 or 3 times a year.

If your gonna spend 500-700.00 on a good converter, I wouldn't go below a 3,000 stall. 2,000 is pretty close to stock as far as I know.

will i be safe with stock though or will it run like crap and bog every time i take off in 1st gear?...

If its a 383 and you'll have a small cam in there with tuning then the stock should be OK. It mainly depends on the cam size, on my B car I still have the stock stall and with the little 227 cam it drives like stock, when I had the 350 on the camaro it had a hot cam but it was a nightmare with stock stall and tuning.

GREAT... i have a zz9 cam and i think the specs on it are alittle bit bigger than the Hot cam... What RPM range of stall do you guys suggest?
