Stock springs handle 1.6 rr's?

If not i'll spend some on the lt4 vale springs, its not so much the cost as the springs are cheap, I just get real nervous when it comes to the valve seals everytime I do it, thanks.

EDIT: Everything else is stock, just throwing in the RR for now.

Anyone have an idea? If they won't hold i'll order the lt4 springs tonight that way they arrive the same day as the 1.6 RR.

With 1.6 RRs, you will be pushing the limits of the stock springs. Some people have done done this swap and left the springs untouched; going with some LT4 springs would be cheap insurance I think. Good luck.

I ran the Roller Rockers with stock springs for a couple of thousand miles with no issues. However, I would suggest it just as an insurance type deal. I think it would be wise to do and the valve seals are pretty easy to do. I would vote to get the springs also, It will help freshen up the top end, Old springs are as good as new ones!

I would not do it. For $35 you can get the LT4 springs
so it's worth it to me.

My friend "got away" with the stock springs for about 10K miles, then a loud ticking under the valve covers. Found 2 pushrods with the round tips broken off...only found one of the metal *****

I went 100,000 miles on stock springs with crane 1.6 rockers, changed them last month while having heads reworked.

notice much difference with the crane RRs? I have them sitting on my shelf, never got around to installing them yet. (I've heard people say approx 16 rwhp?)

I've asked this question a while ago and got the same results, people that have done it with success, and those who recommend to change the springs while you're in there.

I went 100,000 miles on stock lifters and springs without a problem. When I originally installed them I did notice a difference in power, not big difference but it definately helped.

Stock springs reach coil bind at .48x lift, and with 1.6s on the stock camshaft, you're about at that point.

For the cost, at LEAST install LT4 springs for some kind of insurance.

Why nervous about seals? Change them while you have the springs off. The seals are the easiest part of the whole thing.
