Stock shortblocks and spinning them high...

Anybody spinning the stock shortblock high? I went through traps last weekend over 6700 rpm(kicking off the nitrous at 6100) and am thinking of trying to bump up the limiter and spray it all the way down the track this Friday, but it will probably put me around 7000. Anyone spinning their stock shortblocks to 7000+ and getting any life out of them? I know it will quit making power that high(stock heads), I just want to be able to make a full pass to see what it will do. Here's my track info from last weekend...

You're gonna be on borrowed time that's for sure. I just got my computer retuned and madtuner set my rev limiter at 6700 rpms and I'm sending in back today to get it set at 6400 but then again I don't have the money for a stroker build right now. You say you know it won't make any more power spinning that high on the stock heads so why try???

To make it all the way down the track, I think the car has some 10.2's in it if I made a full pass, then a few minute job I could throw in the 150 jets to see where it will go. I got two spare shortblocks.

I don't care if you do have a few spare shortblocks, what's the point? Why possibly screw up some of the good parts in the motor that could be used in future projects? Just put the right gear in it. With nitrous your better off under gearing and short shifting the car anyways. Let the boatload of torque from the nitrous do the work.

I'm not trying to blow it up, but hitting a 9.9x on a stock shortblock and stock heads would be a nice thing to be able to say I did. I think I found a center section with 3.55's so I might end up swapping it in, but with my vacations I won't be able to get back to the track with the new gears until mid August.
