Stock Rod bolts or studs?

I was going to get the mechanic working on my car replace the stock rod bolts with some better studs to help the bottom end out some, but he said he thinks it has them on from the last time he remembers being down there. What did the rods come with stock and are there any marking on the head of the bolt or nut?

Rod studs???? Rods are either bolted or cap screwed and really if changing bolts they should be resized at the same time.

Rods are either designed to be bolted or cap screwed from the factory, can't really change from one to the other.

Okay, yea. I was wondering what the stock bolts looked like. How I could tell if they were stock material or something like ARP replacements.

Stock style rod with nut and bolt. Bolt is pressed into the rod body, cap slides over the bolt, and nut holds the cap in place:

Aftermarket 'cap screw' rod, which uses no nut, but has threads in the body of the rod itself:

As you can see... you are either using one, or the other. Not interchangeable designs.
