Non-Trac Ctrl Throttle Cable?

Just a question... I have to replace the throttle cable on my '97 Z28 (T56 if it matters) and would like to remove the traction control system at the same time. What I would like to know, is this...

The only throttle cable GM lists for the LT1 w/o traction control is for the '94-96 cars. Will this one work with my '97?

Also, what needs to be done to properly disable the ASR system? I've heard it can be programmed out of the ECM, and that should do it. Is this all there is to it?

Also... would I need a cruise control cable for a non-ASR car as well?

Looks like GM Parts Direct lists both cables (throttle and cruise) for a '94-96... not expensive either? Don't see it being a problem to get from the dealer. Shows both cables listing around $30....?

I just need to know if they will work with my '97.

Yea it will work. If you can get them from GM parts direct then do it. I believe the cruise control cable is discontinued, I know it is for the 98-02 cars., but they still show it in their computer. Junk yards are your friend.

Quick question on the same topic as this, how do you adjust the throttle cable if you do this switch?
