stock oil pump fine for a rebuild

Im in the process of rebuilding the lt1 and tryin to cut back on as much as i can would it be ok to put the stock oil pump back up there (cc503 cam new valvetrain) or maybe with the white spring or just get another one

I wouldnt use it its not worth it. You can get a new pump and pickup for about 50 dollars.

If you have the funds it wouldn't hurt to pick up a new one.

Then again, if you have relatively low miles on your stocker (under 100k), I wouldn't hesitate to put it back on.

I think I got mine for around 30-40 for pump and pickup

it's a decent amount of added insurance depending on why you have to rebuild, you never know what's still inside it

Take it apart and clean it, put the HP spring in and use it if you want. If it was pumping fine before and you need to save some $$ it will be just fine after you clean it out.

That would have been one of the pumps that are being made cheaply with thin castings. Probably would have been further ahead to keep the stocker.

"New" does NOT equal better, have to figure GM put the stock pump in with a few hundred thousand mile target service life, the aftermarket does not aim that high.
