Re: Stock LT1 Horse Power ??

Your 1995 LT1 is rated at 275hp & 325lbs.

You will gain next to nothing with the hypertech.

Yeah custom tuning also costs a whle lot less and gains you more. When modding your car one of the most important things to remeber is magazines LIE for their advertisers period. Hypertech Granatelli, Jet etc. all CRAP on a good day, the only good thing any of them offer is the Hypertech 160 stat.

Stock RWHP for LT1s generally fall in the following ranges:

Autos:240-260 RWHP
M6s:250-275 RWHP

The Ratings for the LT1 F-bodies, like their new LS1 cousins are under rated (though not to the extent of the LS1s). LT1s are roughly 300 FWHP engines.

I don't see how a transmission affects the amount of horsepower an engine makes... maybe you can enlighten me.

Automatics use fluid to transfer power, which causes a greater loss. There may be other reasons but this is one of em.

BTW, the engine still makes the same amount of power, just less makes it to the wheels in an auto.

I didnt say nothing about engine making less power. I just assumed it was a given (engine making the same power, regardless of the tranny)

You've seen a stock LT1 dyno 275rwhp? I thought it was more like 230-240 for autos and 240-250 for manuals. Not second guessing you just wondering.

Add the "Tornado" , "Air Foils" and Superchips to that list.

Get rid of the SHORTY headers and go with mids or longtubes... that will make a huge difference. Other than that, you dont really have any other power mods. The cat back and CAI will give you marginal increases in HP (but again, your cat back is lacking because you have shorty headers).
