stock lt1 gas mileage

Hey guys new member here. My question is what kind of gas mileage does a stock lt1 auto and manual get assuming they have good tuneup.

When mine was stock, it would get about 25mpg (cruising around 75) on the highway and about 17 in town. Now it gets about 23 highway and 15 city. I do a mainly highway now with some in town driving and my average is about 18 or so. The manuals will get better mileage, especially on the highway.

i got 26 mpg on a road trip to GA from FL riding mostly in 6th gear. typically, i got around 18 mpg avg, as i'd get on it every once in a while. that's why we have 350 cubic inches, right?

Well around here (purdue) i get about 200 miles to the tank, but back home (far from everything) I get about 250-260...maybe more if I dont fill up before its completly empty. There is something wrong if you are only getting 160 out of a tank.

so i either have dirty fuel injectors or i need a tune up very badly. i mean i rev my engine a lot but i just assumed with the massive exhaust i must be losing a lot of gas

ryan,

what kind of programming have you done?

also, if you're stomping on it everywhere you go, i wouldn't doubt that your mileage would be worse than 11

ive only had this car a few months and i know i have an aftermarket computer chip but im not sure what brand nor what the settings are. it is supposedly programable but i dont have a programer. does the car come with a 14 gallon tank? if so then im only getting no more than 160 miles to a tank cause although the fuel guage is decieving ive filled up as much as 13.5 gallons before. the engine has 65k miles and im not sure when the last tune up was so who knows.

here's a 3 page thread on mileage:

http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...k&pagenumber=1

maybe you've got bigger injectors or something...either way, 11 isn't *that* bad considering we all mash on it. why don't you just go easy on it for a tank or two...i know it's not as fun, but might give you reason not to worry so much

Is it the case that not all 4th Gen's have 15 gallon tanks? That was my understanding, please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

All 4th gens have 15 gallon tank but I noticed not all will fill up to 15 gallons. Most mines has ever take was 13.5 and thats with less than 1/4 tank left, pretty much empty, my buddies 00 WS6 fills up to 13.5 as well. Most peoples car will take 15 though, mines hasn't yet.

I drove mine easy on a tank and got 22 mpg and that was mixed city and highway. I think with my new fuel filter, spark plugs, !Catalytic Convertor that I should get a little better.

The only problem is resisting nailing the throttle....

That's the biggest problem we all have!

I get around 17 around town, hoping the new fuel filter will help out a little. And like darkangel95 said if I can quit smokin ricers & stangs, I'll get a lot better mileage.
