stock lt1

im trying to figure out what my friend has in his car. he has a 97 z28 a4 with his only mod being a catback. he claims to run consistant 13.80s on strett tires cutting a 1.8 60 foot, but a trap speed less of a hundred. do lt1s really run this fast stock?

My car when completely stock ran a 14.124 with a 2.3 60ft at less than 100. So my car was well capable of a 13.8x with a 1.8 60ft, as are plenty of other LT1's.

weird i was under the impression most lt1s ran low 14s. which is the norm tho, to run high 13s or low 14s?

maybe an lt1 with 2.73 gears. 3.23 gears and a few bolt on should easily be in the 13 sec range

i beleive he has the 2.73. wouldnt this result in a higher topend for him also? one other question, how much should a 97 z28, auto, cloth, ttop weigh?

well, I have a 97 Z auto, cloth interior with T-tops and it weighs ~3450lbs. Well that what it said when my car was inspected anyway.

Only overall top speed. You wont get a higher trap in the quarter mile... not enough distance to make them come into play. Actually a 3.23 should get you a better trap because it will get you out of the hole faster. My 95 z when it was stock ran a 14.3 with just a CAI and i have 2.73 gears, my 60' was over 2 seconds too. So i would say a 13.8 is pretty good and i guarantee that it is all because of that 60' time. No doubt.
