Question Stock Lifters for LT4 Hotcam????

I'm about to install a hotcam in my car and was wondering if I could use the stock lifters or if should buy new ones? My car only has 45,000miles?

if it were me i would replace them. You have to take them off anyway because you have to replace the springs. Also, are you buying the kit, or just the cam and springs? The kit comes with 1.6 rr's

I bought the kit, but the kit doesn't come with lifters. So I'm just wondering if stock ones are good enough

He's talking about reusing the lifters, not the rocker arms. The HC kit includes new roller rocker arms but doesn't include new lifters. I installed the HC kit on mine at 57k miles and reused the stock lifters. They appeared to be in good shape and have worked fine so far so I would think yours should be ok.

When I did my hot cam kit years ago before my 396 I used stock lifters and had no problem with it. I was running mid 11's and everything was fine. My lifters had around 35,000 miles.
If you want peace of mind, find yourself a set of Comp R's.

You can reuse the stock lifters. I just had my stroker done and thats the only thing I have on the motor that isn't new. My machinist didn't hesitate to tell me to kep them and considering I got my parts from him and he would probably profit from me getting some, i think I believe him. He was a highly reputable engine builder also.

If you can easily afford it, why not replace them? They may be perfectly ok, but if you put in new ones, you will know they are good. JMHO

I replaced mine's when I did the cam and heads for a piece of mind. I used stock replacements from Crane Cam.

I went ahead and changed mine while it was apart. I would rather play it safe and change them.

With your mileage I would re-use the stock lifters. These things are easily good for 100K+ miles.

I reused mine with 110K on my Imp and have no problems. Very good engine builder and racer helped me and told me roller lifters really dont wear like the flat. He told me I was fine til I rebuilt. Just check the roller of the lifter to make sure its the roller will not break in time and you should be fine.

Got 133.5k here, when I put in my HOTcam at 125k I reused the stock lifters. If it ain't broke don't fix it!
