was the stock k member designed with oilpan protection in mind?
just curious because of a local debate over the purpose of the stock k member.
i say it was designed with oilpan protection in mind. and the bmr tubular one doesnt protect the oil pan at all and is a race only unit.

in the auto's it may seem as if the cross member would be having the 'oil pan in mind,' but then if you look at a cross member on a manual, it supports farther back on the transmission and seems to pull from the oil pan location where the auto member sat...
so id say no...it wasnt meant to support the oil man in any specific way...

It was designed with oil pan protection in mind, look at what happens when you put an aftermarket oil pan on, it gets beaten to $hits, the lower portion of the pan barely gets hit cuz all the rockers/ pebels manage to hit the K-member first, also if you drive over a curb you always see the K-member get the beating.
