stock internals handle an LE2 package?

Can the LT1 stock internals handle a LE2 package by Lloyd Elliot? I guess I would have to get me a better clutch. I already have an upgraded ignition system I will also get bigger injectors. Thanks for any help.

You should have no problems with the stock crank, connecting rods and pistons at that power level.

Re: stock internals handle an LE2 package?

Well one more thing I did not type down, the car has 147,000 miles. Is there something I can do with the stock internals in order to get them up to par. Or do you still think they are fine(kind of hard for ya to know that). I have a new alternator and water pump. Should I consider a better oil pump. Thanks for helping out.

i am going with this package also, and was kinda worried about the low end also, bu generally for any cam install its recomended to do the supporing mods which is basicaly rebuilding the top end. and timing chain. any other issues/comments that should be touched when goign with the LE2 package? because i know the revs will be higher (6.5k)

well, you said it right there, with that many miles i doubt the bottom end willl hold up after reving the motor higher

I don't think you willl have problems if your engine has been properly maintained. I know people that have done Heads/Cam on 160,000+ miles and still running strong....heck they even sprayed it too. I think its a guessing game...and Don't think it will last forever, but if its gonna blow..it woulda blown with 6,000 RPM stock shift points as well..thats my way of looking at it.

Ok lets say I do get the head/cam cause I will in time get forged internals. If the pistons or rods or any of them go out will it hurt my heads?

Depends on the year of your car but if you yank the motor out with your setup you could add ARP rod bolts and that will lower the chances of spinning a rod bearing or breaking a rod. Add on top a set of ARP main studs, and you would be ready to rock... if you have maintained the motor well with good oil.
