Is there any different between the head units used with the monsoon system vs just the plain ole 4 speaker setup?

 

You are probably better off asking this question in the Car Audio section of this forum. Theres a lot of knowledgeable stereo folks there that could answer it.

I asked the same question on another forum to no avail. But I do know that the monsoon system came with a separate amp that fits over the rear passenger wheel well. I am currently in the market for a factory cd player myself and am wondering if the monsoon even has an amp inside the unit ,or if it works soley off the amp. I was going to ask there but I didn't consider this a "custom car audio" question. I kinda think it would be pointless for GM to make 2 different radios (but of couse, they do stuff that's not normal). I think the amp in the back would be to power the subwoofer.
