stock headers on 93 z28?

I was looking around my engine compartment (just got the car on 11/30) and previously I had assumed the headers were stock because they were all nasty looking, but then I looked more closely and they have an Edelbrock emblem on them. Did 93 z28 or any of the 4th gens for that matter come with Edelbrock headers standard? It would seem odd to me for someone to have replaced the headers and left the rest of the exhaust stock because i have those nasty rectangular tips in the back which to me means nothing had been changed on the car, exhaust wise atleast. So I'm under the assumptions that the Edelbrock headers came standard, but I could be wrong. Anyone have any idea on this one? If you have an entirely stock z28 can you check your headers to see if they say GM or not? Thanks, Erik.

No 4th Gens received "headers" from the factory. It isn't unusual to upgrade the exhaust in pieces.... headers... Y-pipe.... catback. Mabye he had a catback, sold it when he sold the car and threw the stock exhaust/tips back on.

In any case, there were no LT1's with Edelbrock headers from the factory.

Interesting..Later today when I have time I'll go out there and write down the part number that's on the tag, and see if I can find out what exactly they are. So if I have nasty looking Edelbrock headers that LOOK like stock manifolds, like I had on my old k5 blazer, should I replace them with Ceramic Coated or Jet Hots or something of that nature for aesthetics and maybe increased performance? They're freakin nasty looking.

I don't think any f-bods came stock with headers...
Maybe someone was going for the stock look, or didn't know what they were doing, or ran out of money, etc.
I do know that if the headers are in good condition you should really get an aftermarket exhaust system on there. It seems like a waste to have headers on there and a stock exhaust. Your headers are most likely operating at nowhere near their true potential. Of course you might have the TES headers, good for smog, not as great for performance...

stock exhaust isn't that much of a loss, I've seen a 2 cars dyno one with hotcam kit other with 230/236 XE cam, mac headers on both & stock cat backs with no cat (Y-pipe is MAC) & they had the highest dyno numbers out there for a hotcam kit it was 335rwhp, the 230/236 XE guy also with stock cat-back dynoed 346RWHP, I doubt they would see much of a gain with a cat-back after these numbers, I tuned & put both cars together myself, I just told the guys to get electric cut-outs & put them after the Y-pipe, & leave the stock catback alone.

Well, yeah, a cutout will reduce the reasons for getting an exhaust. But getting a cat-back is cheap and easy, even if it will only net you ten hp.

Despite how freakin expensive it is, I'm really really tempted to get a Corsa catback system. Not too many people on here have it that I know of, so it would be pretty unique in itself. I want pretty headers. Haha. May seem retarded but I hate looking at them the way they are.

Yeah coated headers would be better and cool things down a bit. I understand about the uniqueness thing, it seems that every other car I see has an aftermarket exhaust. But I haven't heard anything good or bad about corsa. Must mean that not very many people have it...which is what you want.

Supposed claims are that they add 14 rwhp, and that they completely eliminate interior resonance, but I don't know if that is really an issue with any other catback systems for that matter. Regardless, I'm not really sure if it's quite worth the investment consider i'm not a racer and I probably won't be going to the track. I'm mainly going for aesthetics and a little bit of go, and sound if that can be placed in the aesthetics department here. I don't mind the stock sound, but I prefer aftermarket exhaust. Deep and throaty. My old truck I drove around was pretty loud, but it wasn't quite the sound I was looking for, stock manifolds into 3 inch piping with a single flowmaster...so it wasn't running duals or anything, which probably would have given it a better sound. But yeah what would a Hooker catback system run me, and if i got JetHot LTs what would the combo cost me...for JetHots and a Hooker Catback?

the hooker catback is like $270 from jegs and it sounds awesome. The coated headers will probably run you about 500 bucks

I have Corsa, you'll love it, with stock y pipe and cat it sounded good, now i have LT headers, and it sounds nuts at WOT, quiet at idle, and low rpm cruise,

The stock cat back is ok, its decent quality stuff, its the stock exhuast manifolds that are the problem.
