Don't think of it like that.
Once you want to go beyone a few basic mods like a new tune, some headers, a converter, etc; you should replace it anyway. The REASON you should replace your fuel pump once you start adding any real HP is because it's been in there for a while and like all mechanical things it wears out.
Beyond that, you COULD get a brand new stock pump and then your question would be worth re-examining. However, considering how cheap a Walbro 255 or 340 is, and that you can do the wiring harness upgrade at the same time; why bother doing anything else?
