Stock fuel line questions

When the fuel lines come into the engine compartment they are plastic. When I looked at the quick disconnectors there is some rubber at the end of the line. What is the transition from the plastic line to the quick disconnectors?

PDM,

I lost one of those rubber gromet deals and haven't had any problems. My guess is that it is there to seal up the connection from dust/grime.

Ryan, wrong part! Not talking about the little rubber "boots" or grommets. Maybe my fuel lines are different? As I look at them the lines are plastic, then a larger diameter maybe 8" long piece of rubber covers them, transitioning to the quick disconnect.

Mainly what I want to know is the complete fuel line plastic or does it transition to rubber before the quick disconnect.
