Stock crank and balancing.
Stock crank and balancing.
I guess alot of you have noticed that I have alot of posts lately concerning the rotating assembly. I was wondering if any of you guys had to spend a fortune in mallory metal getting your crank balanced. So far I have the stock crank, Scat 6.0" rods and Mahle piston. I plan to have it all balanced, I just want to know how bad the factory crank is. Does this sound o.k?

You'd still have to balance it. Your set up is very simular to alot of peoples here on this board, it's simular to mine except for the rods and crank. I have eagle h beams and gm forged crank. Where I live balancing is $150-200 dollars, I guess it depends on the crank, my buddy had a cola crank and wound up paying $$400 or so.
With your set-up, the stock crank should hold up fine as long as you keep it under 500-550 RWHP.
Just make sure that it is balanced correctly. The 6" rods are also easier on the crank because it will cause your pistons to have less mass and weight, and therefore puts less stress on the crank.
I would also just get the crank magnafluxed while you have it out. Its not expensive at all
