I hear 58 cc and 54 cc. What is the actual combustion chamber size on 95 aluminum heads?

I always thought the lt4's were 54cc and lt1's 58cc.

 

they are 53cc,well the two sets i have are they were cc'd this afternoon...they are virgins...........till mr. elliot gets them......

 

Damn it, I ordered -3.4cc flat tops assuming stock heads were 58cc. This is just great, now I will have a 11.6:1 Compression ratio. ARGH

I always thought it was 54. It is my understanding that with good tuning that compression would be fine on 93 octane.

The ones I have seen are 54 and you should be fine with anykind of cam with that compression.Your DCR is what matters not static compression.

 

i just did a set of aluminum heads for my friend's 96. i cc'd the chambers and got right at about 57cc on all of them and i polished them. so, i did a little grinding in them but i'm pretty sure i didn't remove much material. i was happy that they were all extremely close to the same cc without having to touch anything up!

 

ive heard 58 too.

ive also heard LT-4 = 53.4 , or something like that.

and LT-1 are 56.something.

i think people round the numbers and call LT4s 54cc and LT1 56cc.

i dont see the LT-1 heads being 54 or less, if that was true then the LT-4 would have to be as little as 52cc. if you change the head on and LT1 to LT4 heads your compression goes from 10.5 to like 11.1:1

Well, I had my chambers measured by a machine shop because I couldn't get a straight answer either. They were exactly 54cc.

 

well then what friggin size are LT-4 heads???????



BTW, summit advertises their CR on their rebuild kits for the LT-1 with 58cc heads.....so is the unsuspecting guy that is rebuilding his stock LT-1 gonna have a lot higher CR????

 

Thats what im saying, even gmpartsdirect says they are 58cc. I hope I didn't get the wrong fricken piston size.

The pattern looks like there's a 58 number from some official source, but measured numbers are more like 53-54.
