Stock Cam Identification
Stock Cam Identification
I have three lt1 cams, they are all for sure 95+ vented opti ones.
But I have no clue what type of car they came from. (impala, camaro, etc)
Is there any way to tell by the part numbers on the cam?
One says GMPT 242 15
One says GMPT 242 17
Last on says GMPT 600 15
I need one for my 95 Formula
Thanks
Steve

Re: Stock Cam Identification
Really it doesn't matter. The b-body makes just as much HP in bolton form as the f-body, but actually makes it's torque sooner despite less lift and duration. Kind of throws a wrench in the "common knowledge" that the b-body was "detuned". I wonder if the f-body/Vette cam had limited lowend because of your crappy axle, the LT1 b-body got an 8.5".
If you really want to make sure you know which cam it is then just use a calipers and put the cam in with the tallest lobes.
