According to what I have read...
Lifters are rated to be safely used to 6400
but the rockers are only rated to 6000
and piston rings to 6300, after that they flutter.
But ive seen many stoc cars surpassing these limits. apparently they are a bit conservitive.
I have that 230/236 cam you are talking about but i changed pison rings and rockers, Im still using OE lifeters though, I figure if im only going to 6500 they will be fine. I havent tuned it yet so it still shifts at 58, but Im gonna set it to shift at 6450 I think. and run a MSD spark cutoff at 6600

Yeah You cant go past 7000 with the stock computer. The tables stop at 7grand and will not allow fuel flow past it.

Shifting at 7k on the 1-2 and 6,800 on the 2-3.

If you go with a Xtreme grind power seems to always peak at 6,200 regaurdless of cut. A crane or GMPP cut will produce power int he higher RPMs after an Xtreme has stopped

BTW Factory lifters here

Nope. The last table entry is at 6800, and they are in 200 RPM incriments. Anything past 6800 uses the same table.

I've taken mine to 7200 a few times. Normally I shift around 6700 or so; honestly, I need to get my car on the dyno and see where she makes the best power. Definately doesn't make any more power past 6900 or so.

I love being able to rev the **** out of my motor. Still the stock 93k shortblock.

so do you think I should go with a crane or GMPP cam over an Xtreme for this particular application? I'm not really wanting to rev it too much but I am wanting the 117mph traps...

The xe230/236 w/ my heads peaked at 5800. I have the shift points set for a little above 6 grand but when my tranny gets lazy, it goes up to about 6500-6600 w/ no problems.

Here is another CC306 w/ Comp R lifters, w/ about 87k on the stock short block! I have been up to 6800 easily, and it KEEPS pulling like mad! I don't do it a lot, but I am not afraid to when the time calls

Shouldn't be a problem

My shift light is set to come on at 6600rpm, and it has come on alteast once a day for the past 6 months. I know its only a matter of time before something gives, but if you are worried about spinning a bearing or breaking something, leave the stock cam in or just put in a really small one, like the 212/218 or 218/224.

Waz.

another crazy **** with a CC306 in here..have my shift light come on at 6500, but at the track i let it light my face for a sec before i shift, according to my tach its around 7+k so probably around 6700 since i have a rev limiter at 6800.
Also my car peaked at around 5900 (348rwhp) but the power only droped maybe 10-15 hp all the way to the revlimiter. It feels like it pulls forever, i dont know why it peaks at 5900 on the graph.
