Stock Bottom CC306 How high RPM

I have a 355 stock bottom other than mahle .030 pistons with the CC306 what are others spinning their RPMs to SAFELY. I dont want to be spinning a bearing or breaking anything. I was thinking 6300 would be ok almost all the time and was going to set my rev limiter at 6500. Any thoughts

when i had a cc306 with a stock shortblock i was launching at 7200, shifting at 6800, and trapping at 7000 (and spent a ton of time up in those RPM ranges on the street)

Wow that seems really high. Now keep in mind I dont want to hurt anything cuz I don't feel like doing a rebuild again.

if you only wanted to spin 6300, you should have gone with a smaller cam

Re: Stock Bottom CC306 How high RPM

Ive read on here people having good luck spinning to 7k on a stock bottom end and other to say the least have not. If reving was an issue next time you plan any motor work talk to a lot of people on here or else where first so you get the right parts for what you want. Im sure even shifting at 6300 it will be faster than with a stock one but not as fast as if you shifted at 6700 or so..... have you gotten a dyno tune yet? is it installed yet? When you dyno tune it you will see the power still going if you have it tuned only to 6300 or so Ide imagine, I dont have this cam but judging by what most have said and its size you will miss out a bit if you cut it off there. If you decide not to go past 6300 and have not installed it yet order something else....

usually everybody who says a stock LT1 shortblock cant handle 7000rpm, are the ones who have never done it themselves. if you want to stay on the safer side of things, i would shift at 6600 and put the rev limter at 6800.

Re: Stock Bottom CC306 How high RPM

I have never ran the motor that high and thats why I was asking if it was okay. I just wanted peoples opinion with the cc306. If the general consensus is to run to 6800 or so then I will. I will have to get to a dyno too and check how the power band looks. I feel like I should apologize for asking. Touchy subject I guess

Re: Stock Bottom CC306 How high RPM

My auto shifts at 6600 and rev limiter is 6800. What do you have for the rest of your valve train? My peak hp was 351.2 and I made that at around 64-6500. Made 11 passes at the track yesterday with no problems.

Re: Stock Bottom CC306 How high RPM

I have new lifters, double valve springs, hardened pushrods, guideplates, and 1.6rr's. So I guess I would probably be okay spinning to around 6600 or a little more.
