Stock '96 z dyno results w/ cai
just got my car dynoed today. its a stock '96 Z28 with just moroso cold air intake and a reprogrammed pcm. tell me what u guys think. im pretty happy with the results. 264.8 hp 303.9 tq only things are the lean idle, and after about 4700rpms. seems like bad plugs, wires, and/or optispark to me.

Erik,
those are some good numbers. The air fuel ratio is right where it should be. It looks like you have some ignition (knock retard most likely) at higher rpms but other than that, it's fine.

i have had some people on a local board laugh at the numbers and say the car is not stock. the car has been looked over millions of times by now, and i know for a FACT that it has a cai and a reprogrammed pcm (thanks to madwolf, who did an excellent job!!). other than that, i just dont know. the car sounds like a beast, and yet, it still has the stock headers, y-pipe, muffler and exhaust tips. it must really be a factory freak, or it has something done to the motor that i dont know about. anyways, about the breakup in the high rpms, i just did a plug/wire swap not too long ago, as well as switched the opti and waterpump. but i guess another plug/wire swap is needed. ive been thinking about getting the lt4KM, and i guess ill do that now. anyone else with opinions? id like to hear them. what do stock Z28's normally dyno???

i'd try the lt4 km
it's not too expensive (35 shipped) and you're going to want it anyways with some mods later on
i think most z28 m6s dyno in the 260-270 range stock, then a4s a little less just because of the drivetrain loss difference

Looks right. About 10-15 hp above stock. Makes sense for a CAI and PCM reprogram.
Do you feel the jumpiness in the TQ at the higher RPM?
BTW, you can't really call your car stock anymore. A 10-15 HP increase is significant.

Stock A4's are closer to about 240-245 rwhp.
At least that's what I've found after numerous searches and looking at dyno charts.

i was a little surprised to find those curves after 4700 rpms. the car doesnt jump, studder, or shake at those rpms, runs smooth as silk. is that a nice, smooth tq curve or what.
