Unhappy Stinky air vents - help Im dying

Spring is finally here! Today I turned the A/C on for while during the drive home, with no problems. It got cold !

So after a while I flip the selecter over to vent, and I almost lose it. The moldy stink that came out really got to me. Yuck. And it didn't go away, and this is the 2nd day in a row so its still there.

I ran the heater all winter, never through the front vents. Always defrost , floor or mix. I guess something bad decided to make a home in there while I wasn't using it. I don't smell it when I ran the A/C, only on vent.

What/where/how can I clean that stink up? Any products? What to take out and clean off? Any hope?

My car is 9 years old now, and just started this problem now. Damn this New Jersey winter. Any advice is appreciated.
