Still looking for noise
Let me start my question out by telling you what has taken place so far. My 95 z28 lt1 A4 started clicking very bad, so I put some oil additive to free up sticky lifters, the car has 87.000 mi on the lt1 and I have no mods other than my MAF screen being removed, I replaced a head gasket about a year ago, and ran fine since. that is untill now. It started out with a small click and got worse the next day so I parked it and started looking. Now the intake is off and I've started pulling lifters, only 1 and it looks fine??? has anyone had this happen, and if so am I headed in the right direction? Also while the intake is off I would like to get it anodized along with any other alum parts that I have off at the time, has this been done before? any pics I'd like to see them. If anyone can help, I sure could use it or any suggestions please.
Thanks again Dave

Well, I saw your other post so I dragged your post back up.
You do not have headers, so i do nto think it is an exhaust leak.
it is possible that it is a loose spark plug.. Check the plugs real quick.
Well you have the intake off now. So I would take all the lifters out, clean and inspect them. Most lifters will eventually pump up even if they were gummed up, so it might have just been a valve lash adjustment needed. Look at the rockers for any excessive wear also.
I would also get a light and examine the cam lobes very carefully. A wiped cam lobe can make a ticking type noise also. But usualy there would be a matching lifter that looks "pitted"
If the cam lobes look good (really check this in detai)l, I would replace the lifters if any of them look worn. I would also replace the rockers also if any look worn. Make sure non of the valve springs are not cracked.
Make sure to properly adjust the the lash on the valves when putting it back together.. make sure to be generous with the sealant on the intake beads. I personally liek to let the sealant set up for 10 minutes before lowering the intake to the engine.

Thanks for the input, I did not have a chance this weekend to work on it any, but today I plan on pulling my plugs to replace them, ( that would suck if it was just a loose plug after all this ) Then I'll proceed if not it, when I pull the lifters, how important is it to keep them in the same spot? I also have roller rockers to be put on, however I need to get guides for them, can I use my stock valve covers with them?
again many thanks
again many thanks
