The "oil" leak sounds like transmission fluid. Concentrate on those pipes. With all the discussion, you could have had it fixed by now.

It sure does sound like tranny fluid. But I've had to put about 3 quarts of oil in since this started happening and I've had my low oil light come on twice. The car is still sitting at the shop right now. I picked it up late the other night and left my Cavi there, but then immediately dropped it back off because all hell broke loose on a simple drive into town.

oil leak

Again, the same thing happened to me, a so called professional mechanic fixed the oil leak on my car in the exact same place yours is coming from. I had to go behind him and replace the timing chain cover gasket, three seals, 2 O rings at the water pump shaft, 2 O rings on Opti, (the mechanic didn't even put these on), water pump gasket, and the oil pan. The car now has no leaks. Sounds like ur mechanic didn't do a very good job. These are all of the areas in which the high pressure oil comes from in the front of the engine. No doubt it's one of these. Unfortunatley just because a mechanic said he fixed those areas doesn't mean he "fixed them".

The only way to see where it is coming from is to take off your radiator and water pump, clean the area and run the engine. Just make sure you don't over heat since u don't have the water pump on.

There is no high pressure oil at the front cover...it's just splash oiling inside there. Oil will ooze out but won't come shooting out like it would if it was under pressure.

Like has already been said, the only oil under pressure there is transmission fluid....is the oil red in color?

You have a tranny leak and many engine leaks. you'll need a trustworthy mechanic and your own common sense to fix the most critical of these. You have a high pressure tranny leak and several low pressure engine oil ones.
