Still have a miss! Why? Why me!
Here's the quick story:
Trans went out. Sent it off for a rebuild. In the meantime, I installed a new optispark, spark plugs, cat back, and electric water pump along with new hoses. Also sent computer off for a reprogram for my new stall converter.
Installed transmission when it came back, and the car ran like a turd. Missed like crazy.
Looked under the hood one night, found all my plug wire boots leaking and grounding to the head. Ordered new wires from elitesparkplugs.com.
Installed new wires today, the b!tch still has a miss! What the hell is going on? Looked under the hood while in the garage, no arching from the wires from what I can see (still daylight). Could the plugs be fouled up? I pulled one, but it still looked pretty new.
Also, I do have a roller rocker clacking pretty bad on the passenger side. Would that cause this problem?
I'm ready to burn this damn thing down!

Re: Still have a miss! Why? Why me!
Maybe 02 sensors. I had a miss because one o2 had interference from bad wiring.
I'd try disconnecting both o2's, forcing the car to run open loop. If the car runs fine, then it's a o2 problem.
If the car still misses, you can rule the o2's out. Next step from there, is checking the coil and ICM. Do you have an aftermarket ignition?? If so, try and disconnect it and run stock setup. Also replace your plugs with some ngk tr55 coppers, just to rule that out. You don't want to replace and waste your time with the hard stuff if it's just a bad plug.............

Re: Still have a miss! Why? Why me!
if it is still a turd one thing I did when I put my optispark on was I was 1 tooth off and it had the same problems check that if you can does not sound like a fouled plug. also if that rocker is aluminum and its clacking really loud what happens to an aluminum rocker is the higher the rpm the nore it flexes. so if its clacking and barely opening the valve and then you put a load on it, it might stop opening the vave all together.

Thanks. Checked things out last night after dark. The new chrome wires from elite are arching all over the place. Everytime I see one arc to another, the motor stumbles real bad. I hope new wires will fix this for good. I'm getting tired of all this.
As far as the opti goes, I do remember playing with it until it slipped in right. It can only go one one way unless its forced. I specifically checked and rechecked insuring that I finally got it right, and it slid right on and sat flush with the timing cover. I think its the wires.
